Shirley Ann Lunecki, 88, passed into the arms of her loving Jesus and Lord on September 23, 2022, at
MacNeal Hospital. She was born April 11, 1934, in Chicago, the daughter of Frank J. and Paula Elizabeth
(Tunkel) Singer.
Shirley graduated from Kelly High School in 1952, as class valedictorian. Shirley then graduated from
Chicago Teacher’s College with honors in 1956. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Jerome (Jerry)
T. Lunecki celebrating 56 years of marriage 1956-2012. She was also predeceased by her brother Orville
Singer (1931-1974).
Shirley lovingly and generously dedicated her life after college to her family, raising her two sons at
home and volunteering to help many causes. She was heavily involved in Boy Scouts as parent and
leader, directed the CCD program at Our Lady of Charity for decades and later worked as the church
admin at Our Lady of Charity for many years until she retired in her 70’s. She ran blood drives for many
years and was also a member of the Our Lady of Charity Women’s Tabernacle.
Surviving, son Daniel K. Lunecki and his wife, Audrey Lunecki of Austin, TX and their daughter, Lauren A.
(Lunecki) Brunner and husband Paul Brunner of Austin, TX, and their son Bowen.
Surviving, son Paul T. Lunecki and his wife Cara (Zahorik) Lunecki of Palatine, IL.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 27th from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sourek Manor Funeral Home,
5645 W 35th St, Cicero, IL, 60804.
A mass service of remembrance will be held Wednesday September 28 at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Charity
Catholic Church, 3620 S 57th Ct, Cicero, IL 60804. The funeral will be at the Chapel within Queen of
Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 1400 S. Wolf Road, Hillside, IL 60162 following mass.
In lieu of flowers if you’d like to make a donation in remembrance of Shirley Ann Lunecki, the family
