Richard R. Sykora, United States Navy Veteran passed away on March 23, 2025 at the age of 94.He is the loving husband of the late Margaret. Loving father of Paul (Ramona) Sykora, Ruth (John) Dombrowski and Susan DiGioia. Dear grandfather of Ryan (Shauna) Sykora, Sean (Heather) Dombrowski, Brian (Rickelle) Dombrowski, Michelle (Matthew) Ostrowski, Joseph (Maria) DiGioia, Lisa (Brian) Fogle, Francesca (TJ) Taylor, Louis (Kaylee) DiGioia, Angelica (Calvin) McKenzie, Brianna (Ben) McKenzie, Franco (Amanda) DiGioia and Jacalucia DiGioia. Great grandfather to 37.
During his enlistment on the United States Navy he was stationed on the USS Bottineau.
Grandpa was one of the kindest, most generous, and non-judgemental people we have known. Would quite literally give you the shirt off his back; a ride to where you needed to go; a delicious, hot meal (eat the meat); an ice cold beer (Budweiser only), $50 on your birthday (no matter how old you were) a place to crash, or anything else you needed or asked for, or even didn't ask for (at his insistence). His kindness, love, and generosity of spirit impacted everyone he met, and will continue to live on in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Richard will be on Friday, March 28th from 3 to 8 p.m. at The Sourek Manor Funeral Home, located at 5645 W. 35th ST, Cicero. On Saturday, March 29th final goodbyes will begin at 9 a.m. and process to St. Mary of Czestochowa Church for a 10:00 a.m. Mass. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, IL.
