In Loving Memory of Jesse Hernandez AKA “Chuy” or “Conejo” 2/9/1954 – 3/14/2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and friend, Jesse Hernandez, who left us too soon on March 14, 2025 at the age of 71.
Born on February 9, 1954 in Carrizo Springs, Texas to Victor Hernandez and Carolina Brady. He started working at the age of 13 selling ice cream and a shoe shiner at the age of 16 in Chicago. He has always been a hard worker his whole life. He loved helping others. He was very kind and dedicated to anything he put his mind to. He was also a devoted father to his late son Manuel Hernandez and his daughters, May Trujillo & Sarah Hernandez. Jesse was a cherished grandfather to Orlando Jr, Daniel, Jacqueline, Lilyana, Mya, Julissa, Nia. A great- grandfather to Alyanna and fur grandfather to Coco & Lucy, always offering them wisdom, warmth, and support to all those he loved.
Jesse was known for his sense of humor, generosity, hard work, witty ways, his sarcasm, and his willingness to always help his community. He started working for the Town of Cicero as a garbage man then in forestry and spent his last years in the rodent department as an inspector. Jesse loved his job and will leave behind a legacy of love and integrity that will forever remain in our hearts.
He is survived by his brothers: Sammy, Eddie, Ricky and sisters Edna and Irma, his nephews: Armando Jr, Anthony, Pablo, Danny C, Michael, Lil Robert, Valentino, Jay, Adrian, Eddie, Brian, Adrian, Ryan, Ricky, Vinnie and his nieces: Juanita, Patricia, Martha, Christine, Serena, Priscilla, Vanessa, Cynthia. Jesse is now reunited with all of his loved ones especially his son Manuel Hernandez. A final visit to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 1pm - 7pm at Sourek Manor Funeral Home, 5645 W. 35th Street, Cicero, IL 60804. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to “Support Jesse Hernandez’s Funeral Expenses” on gofund me in his honor. Jesse Hernandez touched the lives of so many, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
